I was born
in Australia in 1961. However, when I was about 4 my parents decided to move back
to the Netherlands, where they originally came from. At the age of about 11 I
got my first camera, a two eyed 'lubitel'. I was sold on photography for the rest
of my life. Years later my girlfriend bought me a Canon EOS 1000fn, which was
the beginning of my Canon-age. Through the years I bought more and more equipment
and have captured a lot of photos, countless boxes full of them.
I was glad when the digital camera showed up and was quick to buy my first one.
Now I've been shooting with a Canon EOS 10D

for
about three years. This is what you can find me walking around with in the little
spare time I have:
Canon EOS 10D
Lenses: 28-135 f/ 3.5-5.6 IS USM
17-40 mm f/4 L USM
70-200 mm f/4 L USM
300 mm f/4 L IS USM
100 mm f/2.8 Macro USM
Tele converter 1.4 x
I like to shoot all kinds of animals, but predators like big cats and birds of
prey are my preference. I prefer photographing big cats because they are so rare
in the wild. I think the big cats like tigers deserve a lot of attention because
they are so beautiful. Unfortunately there are still human beings who threaten
them in their existence, unbelievable!
I'm a photographer, so thus when I capture an usual bird like a sparrow and it
turns into a very nice shot, I'm happy too. Some of my photos have been published;
you can find four of my images in 'The AVA Guide to Outdoor Photography'
written by Cathy Joseph and I just signed a contract for 'AVA's Digital Travel
book', coming later this year on the market. The UNEP used a photo of a Red
Panda I've captured and I've had some other little projects also.
